A rainstorm that hit Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, has caused widespread power outages after collapsing several electricity poles and tripping all feeders in the area.
Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JEDC) confirmed the incident and assured customers that its technical crew had been deployed to restore power.
According to Dr Friday Adakole Elijah, Head of Corporate Services, Benue State, the team is working to resolve the issue and restore the electricity supply.
The Disco appealed to customers not to despair, promising to restore power as soon as possible.
Dr Elijah also called on the public and security agencies to help safeguard electricity installations to prevent vandalism and ensure smooth restoration efforts.
Efforts are underway to normalise the power supply in Makurdi.
