Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell who was appointed Chamberlain by Pope Francis on February 14, 2019 and president of the Vatican’s Supreme Court will be responsible for managing the Church’s affairs during the sede vacante period until a new Pope is elected.
His duties will include: Verifying the Pope’s death; Sealing the papal apartments; Overseeing the Pope’s funeral and burial; Managing the daily administration of the Vatican and Preparing for the conclave.
Meanwhile Pope Francis mourning period will last just 9 days and from the 10th day, eligible cardinals are expected to arrive the Vatican for conclave.
