The Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, has announced the appointment of Dr. Paul Bebenimibo as its new Registrar, alongside two other senior officials to pivotal administrative positions.
The appointments were ratified during the university’s 21st Governing Council meeting, held on April 15, 2025, in Warri, Delta State.
Joining Dr. Bebenimibo in this wave of new leadership are Abduldayan Fatimah Jibril, appointed as University Librarian, and Gbe Tamaraudebaemi Justin, named as Bursar.
Before his appointment, Dr. Bebenimibo served as the Head of the Department of Broadcasting, Journalism, and Media Studies at Delta State University, Abraka. A seasoned academic administrator, he was selected through a competitive process led by an eight-member panel constituted by the university. His strong background in education management, combined with a record of integrity and dedication, were key factors in his selection.
Dr. Bebenimibo is also a former Commissioner representing the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), further highlighting his depth of public service experience.
Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of the Governing Council, Abdullahi Bardi, confirmed that the appointments adhered strictly to the university’s statutory guidelines. He expressed confidence that the new appointees’ expertise and professionalism will play a crucial role in advancing the university’s mission and development.
