It’s been a week I received the shocking news of the demise of Abdullahi Ali Kano. Its been so difficult to come to term with this reality that he is no more and even so to pen a farewell tribute to a compatriot, comrade and confidante.
Abdullahi Ali kano was everything you wanted from a friend and a mentor.
IN THE BEGINNING
Our paths have crossed dateline in 2010
…President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was preparing for his first election after the death of President Musa Yar’adua.
The Neighbor to Neighbor(N2N) campaign initiated by Princess Stella Odua was constituted and Ali kano was nominated as the Kano state coordinator of the campaign. So as part of the campaign staffs at the N2N headquarters in plateau House Abuja I had the privilege under prince Eka William’s who was the the National coordinator to liaise with the various coordinators across the country and specifically the North.
I & Ali Kano naturally struck a friendly cord and I became the go to person for everything he needed from the Headquarters.
IN 2013…
Fast forward to August 2013, as we prepare for the PDP National convention at the Eagle square and the aftermath of it, Rt.Hon Abdullahi Hussaini MaiBasira was elected as the National youth leader and the youngest member of the National Working Committee (NWC).
Ali Kano as a great mentor upon the recommendation of Prince Eka William’s asked me to join the National youth leader as one of his aide. Its been a great honour working with him and a decade of my career in active politics and the vast network and contacts it has availed me has been unquantifiable.
As the Rt.Hon.Abdullahi MaiBasira drove the transformation of the youth directorate as a the PDP National youth leader and also as the National financial Secretary, the learning curve as been immeasurably.
ALI KANO WILL BE REMEMBERED…
Ali Kano will be remembered and fondly missed for his unbreakable calls and deep network of friends that he has built from his days in the student struggle and those who will continuously remember his guidance and mentorship.
THE CONDOLENCE DELEGATION
As Rt. Hon. Abdullahi MaiBasira led the delegation of the condolence party to comfort Ali Kano’s family & prayers at his final resting place in kano, this thoughts echoes deeply that we have lost not just a boss but also a bossom friend and brother.
We pray the Almighty ALLAH (SWT) will grant him Aljannat Firdaus and comfort the family left behind to mourn this irreplaceable loss.
Aameen.
Good bye Garkuwan Tsokuwa, Comrade Abdullahi Ali Kano Ph.D. Member National Confab(MNC) 2015.
