Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently leading the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In a notable development, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibas, is present at the gathering.
Also attending is the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, who recently made headlines by defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Other governors spotted at the meeting include Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak of Kwara State, Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, and Bassey Otu of Cross River State.
Several deputy governors are also in attendance.
The NEC, traditionally chaired by the Vice President, convenes to discuss and make decisions on key issues affecting Nigeria’s economy.
Ibas’ presence at the high-level economic meeting raises fresh questions about the unfolding political dynamics in Rivers State. As tensions persist and alliances shift, today’s NEC session may mark more than just routine deliberations, it could be a signal of deeper power realignments at play in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
