Special Adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Trade and Export, Chief (Mrs) Shimite Winifred Bello, was allegedly murdered in the early hours of Monday, April 21, 2025, in what is believed to be a case of domestic violence.
Preliminary reports alleged that Chief Bello’s husband is responsible for her death, however, authorities are yet to release an official statement on the issue.
The tragic incident has sparked widespread outrage across Delta State and on social media, reigniting urgent conversations about domestic abuse and the need for stronger protective measures for women, particularly those in leadership and public service roles.
In response to her untimely death, the Asaba Chapter of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA), has expressed profound grief.
Known affectionately among her peers as “The White Eagle,” Chief Bello was a proud alumna of the University of Ibadan, where she earned a degree in Political Science. She was also the Chief of Ebu Kingdom, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State.
Calls for justice and systemic reform to protect victims of domestic violence continue to grow as the investigation unfolds.
