To boost security during the Easter period and beyond, Anambra State has launched a joint security initiative code-named “Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping and Other Violent Crimes.” The initiative was introduced after a high-level security meeting on April 11 at the Police Commissioner’s office in Awka.
Led by Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu, the meeting brought together top officials from various security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Navy, DSS, Civil Defence, Immigration, Correctional Service, Customs, FRSC, and the Anambra Vigilante Service.
The operation aims to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes, especially during the Easter season when public gatherings and travel increase. It will focus on community-based strategies and intelligence gathering, encouraging close cooperation between the public and security personnel.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga emphasized that the operation is tailored to Anambra’s specific security needs, calling for public vigilance and support.
Commissioner Orutugu assured residents that the collaborative approach by security agencies will ensure peace and safety throughout the season and beyond.
