The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into an explosion that rocked a CCTV camera shop on Kodesho Street, Computer Village, Ikeja, at about 6:35 p.m. on Friday.
Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident, stating that the area was immediately secured by operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, Mobile Police, and conventional teams.
The scene was thoroughly swept to ensure safety and begin a detailed investigation into the cause of the blast. Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh arrived shortly after the incident for an on-the-spot assessment.
Five individuals injured in the explosion were rescued and rushed to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for treatment.
The police have urged the public to remain calm, assuring that the area is safe and that investigations are ongoing. The command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the State.
