Nigerian football legend and captain of the Green Eagles that won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the country for the first time in 1980 Christian Chukwu is dead.
He was reported dead in Enugu his home State earlier today. He was aged 74.
Christian Chukwu popularly called the Chairman because of his leadership quality and mastery of his game had the enviable record of a Captain of the Green Eagles now Super Eagles, Captain of 1980 winning team and coach of the national team.
He also had a stint of his coaching career with Kenya national team; Harambee Stars. Chukwu was a successful player and coach.
Details of his death is still scanty as at the time of this report but informed sources said the late soccer idol has been ill for sometime.
