Former Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan (APC, Yobe North), has praised his predecessor, Senator David Mark, for his remarkable leadership that brought stability to the Senate.
In a statement to commemorate the 77th birthday of the elder statesman on Tuesday, Lawan highlighted Senator Mark’s tenure, which he said fostered constructive relations between the legislature and the executive, significantly strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
Lawan noted that Mark’s leadership style was centered on unity and institutional growth, underscoring his commitment to national progress. He further commended Mark’s pivotal role in championing the “Doctrine of Necessity” in 2010, which facilitated a smooth transition of power during a period of national uncertainty.
In the statement, Lawan expressed his admiration for Mark’s exceptional service and dedication to public life, particularly during his historic eight-year tenure as Senate President from 2007 to 2015.
