The presidency has described as false rumour making rounds that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu has been sacked.
Rumour made the rounds in Abuja that Yakubu has been sacked and replaced by Prof Bashiru Olamilekan.
The Presidency in a swift reaction described it as “fake news.”
Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Digital Media and New Media, O’tega Ogra said “Disregard any fake news making the rounds about the replacement of the INEC Chairman.
“Any such announcement will come from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation or any other official source.”
