Seven people have tragically lost their lives, while four others sustained injuries in a series of accidents that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday morning.
The accidents took place when a truck driver, driving a Mack truck, lost control and collided with two other vehicles.
Florence Okupe, the Chief Public Education Officer for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, confirmed the fatal incidents in a statement issued from Abeokuta.
According to the statement, a total of 15 individuals were involved in the accidents, including 13 adult males and 2 adult females. Among the victims, six males and one female were killed, while three male adults and one female adult were injured.
The FRSC spokesperson explained that overspeeding by the Mack truck driver caused the loss of control, which led to the collision with the other vehicles.
The injured victims were transported to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital in Ibafo, while the deceased were taken to Idera Morgue in Sagamu.
Sector Commander Fasakin Akinwumi visited the scene to conduct further investigations and extended his condolences to the families of the victims, advising them to reach out to the FRSC office in Ibafo for more details.
Okupe also confirmed that the wrecked vehicles had been cleared from the road to allow for the smooth flow of traffic.
