Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the North Central geopolitical zone has risen to demand for the office of the President of Nigeria.
A new political movement tagged “The North Central Renaissance Movement (NCRM)” in a press conference in Abuja today said, the zone has been supportive of other zones in the past but marginalised in the scheme of things.
Leader of the group Prof K’itso Nghargbu who spoke at the press conference requested other zones especially, North-West and North-East to reciprocate the gesture of the north central in the past to enable them clinch the 2027 number one position.
He said “we are equal partners in the project Nigeria. We have contributed human and material resources for the stability of Nigeria. We have also paid the supreme prize. It is time to support North Central in 2027.”
Nghargbu maintained that the time is now to support the north central quest for the Presidency, saying, “we have the eminent men and women to foot the bill.”
He recalled that the quest is not a call for division of Nigeria but a genuine desire for social justice, fairness and equity.
He said that it is a quest for historical balance as equal stakeholders in the project Nigeria noting that north central has paid the supreme prize to keep Nigeria one.
Nghargbu urged all political parties to see the north central as the preferred alternative for the presidency in 2027.
He noted that the north central has been denied the opportunity for the presidency since 1999 insisting that time is now for the zone to have a shot at the presidency.
The North central zone is made up of six States: Nasarawa, Plateau, Benue, Niger, Kwara, Kogi States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja”.
