Former Governor of Imo state, Sir Emeka Ihedioha has said that the Imo Governorship election for which many believed he was “robbed” in 2020 is now in the past.
Ihedioha said at a colloquium to mark his 60th birthday anniversary in Abuja that he has put the issue behind him.
Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was removed as governor of Imo State by the Supreme court in 2020 and awarded the governorship to Hope Uzodima of All Progressives Congress (APC) who allegedly came 4th in the election.
He however pledged to continue to fight and uphold the tenets of democracy which he believes is the best form of government.
A happy Ihedioha paid glowing tributes to his family, friends and colleagues who turned out in their numbers to honour him.
In his remarks, the former Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations Chief Emeka Ayaokwu noted that Democracy is good but the problem of it in Africa is the inability to manage diversity.
He therefore tasked leaders at all levels to manage democracy in a way that all the interests and diverse groups are accommodated.
Speaker, House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas who spoke through his deputy Benjamin Kalu praised Ihedioha for his contributions to the legislature and advancement of democracy.
Ends.
