OBASANJO TO CHAIR COLLOQUIUM ON DEMOCRACY IN AFRICA AT IHEDIOHA’S 60TH BIRTHDAY
Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, will on Monday (24/3/25) chair a high-profile colloquium to mark the 60th birthday celebration of former governor of Imo State, Sir Emeka Ihedioha, CON.
The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, will deliver the keynote address at the event on “Is Democracy Failing in Africa?”. Former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President, Senator David Mark and other eminent personalities will also be in attendance.
Their participation will undoubtedly underscore the significance of the discourse on democracy, governance, and leadership in Africa.
With a wealth of experience in governance and statesmanship, President Obasanjo is expected to highlight the importance of the discussion, especially given the increasing challenges facing democratic institutions in the country and across the continent.
“His insights and leadership will provide valuable perspectives on the future of democracy in Africa and the role of governance in sustaining stability and development,” the statement announcing the event by the media and publicity committee added.
The event will hold at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Intercontinental Hotel, Abuja.
