Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has renewed his call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to effect the release of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from detention.
Soludo made the appeal on a live television interview marking his third year anniversary as governor in Awka, the Anambra state capital.
He said he has visited Kanu and had useful discussion with him, pointing out that releasing him will offer opportunity to interogate the issue of Biafra and find a solution for peace to reign.
The governor dismissed fears that releasing Kanu will aggravate the agitation or violence and therefore promised to have him in his custody.
Soludo bemoaned the activities of Simon Ekpa who he alleged uses the platform of Biafra struggle to cause violence and defraud people.
He condemned the activities of Simon Ekpa and urged people to dissociate from the Finland based agitator.
He stated: “The activities of Ekpa is reprehensible. He promotes violence and stealing. It’s a lucrative business for him and we cannot tolerate that.
“Ekpa is using Biafra for crime and business. He has established lucrative kidnapping business. This must end”.
On the Biafra continued agitation, he stated. “I am a proud Igbo man and I believe in one Nigeria. The Igbo needs Nigeria. Nigeria needs Ndi Igbo. I believe our future lies in a bigger, united Nigeria. Let’s make Nigeria a better place”.
On kidnapping and criminals in Anambra, Soludo said “we have extended olive branch to the criminals, if they continue their nefarious activities, we will not spare them. “.
Ends.
