President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Vice Admiral Onok Ete Ibas as sole administrator for the troubled Rivers state for six months.
This followed a state of emergency he declared today ostensibly to contain the unabating violence rocking Rivers state .
The President said it is in exercise of his constitutional powers in compliance with section 305 of the constitution.
Rivers state has been in political turmoil on account of the irrecoverable differences between Governor Sim Fubara and his estranged political godfather and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister Nyesom Wike.
To this end, all democratic structures in the state has been dismantled till further notice.
Reports from Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital indicates that the military and the police have taken control of security situation.
