We don't build services to make money....

Simply put: we don’t build services to make money; we make money to build better services. And we think this is a good way to build something.

Write down your goals

Many studies have highlighted the important of writing down your goals; few people actually do it. But if you don't create a vision of what you want to achieve, you don't know what you need to do to get there. You have no benchmarks, no direction and no way of measuring your progress towards your goals. Think big. It's worth thinking about.

Word of mouse

Every fast-growing social movement, non-profit and brand of the last decade has grown because people have chosen to talk. Not shelving allowances, coupons, A/B testing, Super Bowl ads, dancing tube men or Formula One sponsorships. Each can be a productive tool, but at the heart of real growth is a simple idea: People decide to tell other people. Start with that.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Wonderful and inspiring quote from Neale Donald Walsch. The point is that you shouldn't shy away from the hard stuff, the things you worry that you can't do. Do things outside of your comfort zone and you'll improve yourself more than ever

Practice makes perfect? NO practice only makes improvement

Don't believe in perfection, it doesn't exist. The more you practice the more you improve but you'll never reach perfection. Never stop practicing and you'll never stop improving, thats the important thing.

What does the word comp mean when used in the 'design world'

I've always know what the term means but never known exactly what it translates to. It actually translates to "comprehensive dummy" which comes from the print design world. The idea is that it's a simulated version of the layout before it actually goes to copy. So in web design a comp would be an image of a layout before it actually gets coded.

Motivational quote from Jim Carrey

I learned many, many lessons from my father, but not least of which is that you can fail at something you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance doing what you love.

Management debt

Management debt is an adapted version of Ward Cunninghams "technical debt". Management debt arises when we (as managers) make short sighted decisions that will have long term consequences. Initially these decisions seem OK but over time they accumulate interest and become harder and hard to solve. Sometimes you have to make a tricky decision today to avoid an even more complex one tomorrow.

A healthy company is one that encourages the sharing of bad news

If you look at companies that have failed, you’ll find that lots of employees knew about the issues that killed the company way before it went under. Why didn't they say something? Most likely because most companies don't like sharing bad news. They think they are protecting their employees. Wrong. Healthy companies encourage the sharing of bad news. More eyes = increased prob solving capability.
